Diabetics
can eat sugars and sweets, but should keep the following guidelines
in mind when doing so:
Only
add sugars and sweets to your diet if your blood glucose is under
good control
Choose
a few favorite desserts and plan when you are going to add them to
your eating plan – maybe once or twice per week
When
you do eat a dessert, satisfy yourself with a small portion
Substitute
a sugar free sweetened food for the regular option
Check
your blood glucose and observe the effect that different sugars and
sweets have on these levels.
